Improving Michigan's Future. The February Early Bird Breakfast will feature our new Lieutenant Governor Dick Posthumus. He will speak to us about what is in store for Michigan in the next year, including four cornerstones for improving Michigan's future. They are: **Improving schools to give citizens the knowledge to be self-reliant. **Expanding opportunity by limiting government and reducing taxes. **Helping families take control of their lives and achieve independence. **Promoting community service. Since 1983, Posthumus has served as a state senator representing the 31st District, which today includes much of rural Kent County. His accomplishments include sponsoring Proposal A, which slashed property taxes for homeowners. It was his bill that gave birth to charter schools in Michigan, and he created the Renaissance Zones through an innovative package of legislation that promises to bring new life to decaying inner city areas. Sponsor: TMG of Michigan, Inc. Cost is $10.00.
